David M. “Dave” Stevens

David M. “Dave” Stevens, age 79, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey suddenly on August 16, 2022, at UnityPoint Finley Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Dave’s life, a private family service will be held at in the Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.  Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Dave’s family.

Dave was born on September 8, 1942, in Dubuque, IA, one of seven children to Francis Stevens and Anna (Andregg) Stevens.  He grew up learning that the most important values in life such as love, honor, loyalty, hard work, and a positive attitude could take you anywhere in this life.  After graduating high school, Dave joined the U.S. Navy and spent over 20 years proudly serving his country.  Not only did he serve during the Vietnam War, but he also was able to earn his Bachelor’s degree while stationed out west.  After retiring from the Navy, Dave returned home to Dubuque and spent another 15 years working with his brother at the Hoffman Industrial Development Center.  He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and found that his natural traits leaning towards devotion and motivation came together seamlessly within his daily responsibilities.  In his free time, Dave enjoyed teaching his family the importance of technique and skill when shooting properly, along with being able to turn a wrench on vehicle when the need arose.  But, honestly, at the end of the day, Dave was all about loving, adoring and protecting his loved one’s.  His generosity, patience, and overall wonderfully good nature suited him well in this mission, and especially when it came to playing the role of Grandpa.  It’s difficult to imagine moving forward without his bright and positive force in our daily lives, but thankfully he has left an abundance of beautiful memories behind for us to treasure as we seek healing from our heavy-laden hearts today.  Thank you, Dave, for teaching us so many valuable lessons along the way and we hope that you know that your legacy will be vividly visible within the generations which follow the path you have set before us.  We will miss and love you till the end of time!
