Jill Juliann Kiebler

Jill Juliann Kiebler passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was surrounded by her family and her friends. She was 65 years old.

Jill was born on April 9, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated with honors from Leesburg Senior High School in Leesburg, Florida. After having four children, one with special-needs, she went to college where she made the dean’s list (summa cum laude), and earned her degree in accounting.

She was a devoted mother, craft enthusiast, bowled in a league, and managed retail stores in Dubuque. She founded an online crochet and knitting forum where women from all over the world gathered, sharing their love and passion for knitting and crocheting. They created, organized, and donated “Lapghan” blankets, which were inspired by her daughter Elena’s needs for warmth, comfort, and style while in her wheelchair. She also crocheted and knitted hats and scarves for the Special Olympics.

She was a passionately curious lifetime seeker of knowledge; an avid reader, loved science-fiction, and was fascinated by space exploration and the unknown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Warren Kiebler and MaryAnn Miller Kiebler; her stepfather, Timothy Wright; her sister, Kristina E. Brown; and her brothers, Thomas, Jeffrey, and Eric Kiebler.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Lyons (Mike), Lucas Albert (Amber), Megan Kiebler (Matthew Hauck), and Elena Kiebler; her grandchildren, Jacob, Jillian, Lexi, Aidan, Jeremy, Caleb, Kiley, Drew, and MaryAnn; her brother, Todd Kiebler; her sisters, Holly Kiebler-Hurm (Michael) and Jenni Jungers; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is also survived by the love of her life, former husband, friend, and confidant Terry Albert. They remained close and loved one another dearly. The entire family wishes to give special recognition to Terry for his enduring love and devotion to our loving mother and sister.

A special thanks to Jesse Theisen who helped care for her throughout the last year of her life. They shared many cups of coffee, her’s always strong and black, their love of Star Trek, and an everlasting friendship.

We would also like to thank her phenomenal team of nurses, case workers, massage therapists, and bath aids at Hospice of Dubuque for their warmth, kindness, and care.

Jill embodied patience, kindness, generosity, and an unconditional love and devotion to her family. We do not know how we are going to live without her, and will miss her deeply. Her strength, humor, kindness, and love will live on through all of us.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held in December at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA.
