Marcilio D. “Marc” DeOliveira

Marcilio D. “Marc” DeOliveira, age 72, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on September 24, 2022, at home while surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Marc’s life, a private family service is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Marc’s family.

Marc was born on November 26, 1949, in Campinas, Brazil.  He grew up in Brazil with the dream of eventually making it to the United States to chase the American Dream.  In his late 20’s, Marc finally made his way to the U.S. and didn’t skip a beat when it came to furthering  his potential for success.  He studied Spanish and English and soon found himself working diligently in the landscaping trade.  Marc started his own business in time and thrived on all of the hard work he had invested into his dream.  He decided he would like to try moving into the medical field and went back to school to work on his nursing degree.  Marc had found a new joy in his life and spent many years working in the pediatrics units before moving into the slower paced nursing home environment.  Here, he met his bride to be, Nena M. Kruse, while they were both working in California and within a year of being united in marriage, they made their way home to Dubuque where Nena’s family was waiting with open arms.  Marc adapted very well to the Midwest life and other than the cold and snow, was truly living the next chapter in his American Dream.  He enjoyed many pastimes outside of work and never let life become dull as each day was an opportunity to grow and learn.  Most recently he was studying Hebrew as his next language to experience in his free-time.  Marc also enjoyed cooking the traditional meals from his youth while sitting down to a good movie, or even picking up the guitar when time allowed.  A little time playing on the computer was always a welcome way to expand his mind as well.  Marc was blessed with a sharp wit and a giving spirit.  His willingness to help others was continually on display throughout his 72 years among us.  We will miss Marc deeply and dearly, but will also be forever grateful for the positive roll he has played in so many lives along his journey.  Thank you, Marc, for always giving your best and reminding everyone around you that the only limits in this life are generally the ones we place on ourselves.  May the Lord grant you peace from your earthly struggles now and may the abundance of wonderful memories which you leave behind help to heal our broken hearts until we all meet again.
