Marilyn F. Jenkins

Marilyn F. Jenkins, age 80, of Dubuque, Iowa, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Marilyn’s life, her Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Hope Church, 11893 J.F.K. Road in Dubuque.  Family and friends of Marilyn’s may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Marilyn’s family.

Marilyn was born on May 23, 1941, in Plymouth, New Hampshire, 1 of 4 children to Harold Merton and Frances Sylvia (Ashley) Chesley, and 3 half siblings born to Harold Merton and Helen Priscilla (Hall) Chesley.  Marilyn grew up a strong independent woman who learned to rely on Christ’s guidance through the stages of her life.  She was a dedicated mother of 2 children and instilled in them the faith in Christ that has guided them in their lives to this day.  In her earlier years, Marilyn spent many years as an elementary school teacher, enjoying every opportunity to impart not only knowledge, but memories as well, into her students.  She also spent some time as a homemaker and case manager serving the elderly in her community, and even found the time later in her life to work on spreading the Good News while teaching troubled teens.  Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend who never met a stranger.  She was the ultimate prayer warrior, regularly spending hours in prayer for anyone she knew needed it, even through to her very last days.  The sorrow we feel today comes only as a result of the unwavering love which Marilyn continually poured out upon everyone she met.  Our hope is in the loving grace that our Lord and Savior so graciously offers to us all, and we know that Marilyn is resting in eternal peace currently as His promises have now been realized.  We are so glad that she got to hear “Well done My good and faithful servant”.

Some of Marilyn’s favorite sayings were:

“Write your plans in pencil and give God the eraser”

“This is just my next adventure with the Lord”

“Keep one step BEHIND Jesus”

“Lord glorify Yourself through this”

What a huge loss for those of us left behind but a huge asset to the kingdom of heaven. She helped me and prayed for me for years over many hurdles in my life. She prayed for my kids for over 40 years. She was the best role model I had in my life. I can’t wait to see you again. I love you my friend ❤️
