Peggy A. Rutherford

Peggy A. Rutherford, age 64, of Hazel Green, WI, completed her earthly journey on April 16, 2022, at home while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Peggy’s life, her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at her home, 2849 Sandy Hood Road in Hazel Green, WI.  Family and friends are invited to join in fellowship and Peggy’s memory from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Peggy’s family.

Peggy was born on October 5, 1957, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Bernard and Margaret (Runde) Leibfried.  Peggy was raised with an intrinsic love for not only her family and friends, but also for her country.  She eventually made her way into the U.S. Air Force after high school and was blessed to have met her soul-mate, Alexander Rutherford, while serving at the Pease AFB in New Hampshire.  The couple was united in marriage and as soon as Alexander completed his 20 years, moved back to Hazel Green to be close to her family.  They were blessed with 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and many wonderful years together.  Peggy was a proud housewife who devoted 100% of her time, efforts, and energy to her home and family.  Her gentle soul was always on display and her light definitely shown brightest when she could simply be outside playing with her grandkids.  Peggy was the epitome of a loving wife and mother, only relaxing when time allowed to work on her latest jig-saw puzzle, painting, or to simply cuddle up in her recliner with her favorite book.  She loved life to the fullest and always choose to see the good in everything and everyone.  Her generosity was unmatched and her love was never restrained.  As our hearts appear to be broken beyond repair today, we trust that the memories which Peggy leaves behind will in time find a way to make our days a little more tolerable and her legacy will be carried onward in the lives of all who knew and loved her.  Thank you, Peggy, for never allowing the failures and faults of this world to ever take hold in your heart and may the love and light that you so boldly held high for all to see find a welcome and grateful home in our lives as well.  We will love you forever, miss you daily, and pray that peace is now yours until we all meet again.
