Roger T. Johnson

Roger T. Johnson, age 66, of Dubuque, Iowa, died on July 29, 2021, at MercyOne in Dubuque. To honor Roger’s life, family and friends may gather together for his Celebration of Life from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Miller Riverview Park-Wisconsin Pavilion, 1851 Admiral Sheehy Drive in Dubuque. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Roger’s family.

Roger was born on June 23, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa, 1 of 8 children to Robert Louis and Marion Elizabeth (Johnson) Johnson. Roger grew up with a strong will and always knew that he was going to do his best to live out his life on his terms. He spent many of his working years manning the booth on the old Wisconsin Toll-Bridge, and was the last toll taker to hold down the fort before it was closed for good. He also worked with the guys at Davis Construction, right alongside his brother, Jimmy, for many years before finishing out his careers with Key City Window Cleaning and finally moving into retirement. Roger possessed a stubborn streak, but was always there for his family and friends when they needed his help. He had a heart of gold and was an amazing cook who always took the extra time necessary to create the perfect pan of lasagna to be placed on the table for everyone to enjoy. Our hearts are surely in shock at the sudden absence of Roger from our lives. We will forever more discover a bitter-sweet smile arising on our faces every time that we hear Fat Bottom Girls playing now, and will never forget all of the times that Roger so freely offered us his unsolicited, but yet free advice…”You know what your problem is”.  May all of the good memories which Roger leaves behind help to heal our broken hearts until we meet again.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Roger include,

his son,

Jeremy Johnson, Florida;
