Marvin Lee “Marv” Pearson, age 87, of Asbury, IA, and formerly of Renwick, IA, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury surrounded by his loving family. Per Marv’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. His burial will be in the Vernon Township Cemetery in Renwick, IA. Tri-State Cremation Center is assisting the family.
Marv lived an extraordinary life filled with many adventures. After graduation from high school, he honorably served in the Air Force and was a proud veteran. The majority of his career was centered around agriculture. He managed the Farmer’s Coop Elevator in Renwick, Iowa, for many years and then went on to serve as a consultant, and interim manager, for many grain elevators throughout Iowa. He also farmed as it was his passion. In retirement, Marv and Darlene spent winters near Casa Grande, Arizona, forming many treasured friendships. They formed a band in their retirement community where Marv sang and learned to play the bass guitar.
There wasn’t anything Marv couldn’t do or fix. Over the years he restored and rebuilt cars, boats, campers, and golf carts. He was a pilot and loved flying. Other interests and hobbies included trap shooting, fishing, watching sports, playing golf, and playing cards. Most of all, he loved his family and spent nearly 70 years with his bride, Darlene. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Left to honor his memory are his wife, Darlene; son, Doug (Sue) Pearson, and their children, Molly (Brad) Acree, Nick and Sally; daughter, Lisa (Todd) Stevenson, and their children, Nate (Heidi), Nick (Rachel), Zach (Megan) and Jake; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Violette, Becker, Brooks, Bryant, and Nick whom he cherished; his sister, Melva Acker; his niece, Terri Schoonover; and his nephew, Jim (Mary) Green.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hawkeye Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all the love and compassion they provided. Marv was passionate about the Dubuque Humane Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and Hospice of Dubuque should you wish to make a donation in his memory.

Our hearts go out to Marv’s loved ones, but especially to our dear friends Doug and Sue. I know he was so proud of his entire family and the special life he lived.
Our deepest condolences.
Meeting and taking care of Marvin was not a “job”. Marv was so appreciative of anything that I did, deliver his pills, bring him fresh water, check on Darlene. Marv remained positive throughout all his issues; he was always worried about Darlene. I will miss you Marv and your infectious laughter, your huge smile and easy going mannerisms. Rest easy my friend 💕💕
