Gary was born on March 29, 1943, in Potosi, WI, a son to Harold and Virginia (Meyer) Koeller. He was a proud member of the 32nd Division National Guard and honorably served his country throughout his years. Gary faithfully devoted his time at talents at John Deere Dubuque Works and eventually moved into retirement in 1994. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free-time and always found joy in building his bird houses and placing them around the Potosi area.
