Grant C. Cashman, age 61, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on March 6, 2026, at home while surrounded by his loving family. To honor Grant’s life, a private family service is being held. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Grant’s family.
Grant was born on January 27, 1965, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Cletus “Blackie” and Sally (Meyer) Cashman. He was gifted with a sarcastic streak which ran deep, perfectly combined with the character trait of loyalty that never wavered. You got what you got with Grant and thankfully never had to wonder where he stood, but if you ever needed someone to have your back, Grant was surely the man you wanted by your side. He devoted many years of his life to managing the sober living house for the Dubuque Rescue Mission and made many friends (and maybe even a few enemies along the way), but always knew that he was making a difference in the lives of those around him where it mattered most. Grant lived life on his terms and did his best to bring positive opportunities to those around him whenever possible.
In his free-time, Grant always enjoyed the outdoors. A little time out in the fresh air, under the warm sun was considered to be time well spent. Add in burning up a few miles on his Harley with his best friend, Kevin Marshall, and Grant would claim that he had been gifted with a perfect day once again (especially if they were able to incorporate his life’s motto into the ride “Drive Fast-Take Chances”). Grant did his best to keep life uncomplicated and had impeccable timing if a joke or good laugh was the correct option for the moment at hand. We are going to miss Grant in our daily life moving forward, but are forever grateful for the memories he leaves behind now and the lessons he taught us as well. Thank you, Grant, for reminding us that life is often a series of choices we make, good or bad, and the rewards or consequences which inevitably follow. May the Lord bless and keep you safe in His loving arms until we all meet again.
