Carol A. Lau

Carol A. Lau, age 89 of Dubuque, Iowa completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Carol’s life, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery, 2736 Windsor Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa.  Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Carol’s family.

Carol was born on February 18, 1930 in Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter to Fred and Edith (Lubberts) Johnson.  Carol was raised with a strong commitment to giving of herself, time and energy first and foremost.  She faithfully devoted over 45 years of her working career as a Registered Nurse to help complete that task.  Carol had the opportunity to work in various locations and facilities, but the years she spent at Finley and Mercy Hospitals were among her most rewarding.  But, even outside of work, Carol was driven to share her generous spirit with all whom she loved and cared for.  Whether she was creating magic at her fingertips on her sewing machine, at her crafts table, or in her kitchen, you could be sure Carol was working on something special which she could bless those around her with.

Carol was a kind and fun-loving woman who embraced each day with an optimistic smile which couldn’t help but brighten any room she walked into.  Her love for sweets was the only thing which came in second to her love for others.  Carol never met a child she didn’t like, but when it came to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, you could continually see that unconditional love in action.  Nothing brought her greater joy than to hear their voices and catch up on the daily events in their lives.  Carol spent her 89 years among us making the world a better place on her terms and countless lives have been impacted for the better because of that fact.  We will miss her gentle spirit moving forward, but we know that she is now at peace from her earthly struggles and we find peace in trusting that she has begun her eternal journey and only has to wait patiently for us to join her again in time.  Thank you, Carol, for all of your love and lessons you’ve left behind, and may we discover peace in the comfort of carrying your legacy forward.
