Cynthia “Cindy” Pepple

Cynthia A. “Cindy” Pepple, age 68, of Galena, IL, completed her earthly journey suddenly on April 16, 2026, at home while surrounded by her loving family. To honor Cindy’s life, her Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Galena Elks Lodge, 123 North Main Street in Galena.  Light refreshments will be served and Cindy loved flowers; so at her request in lieu of charitable donations, please feel free to send or bring them, and if desired take them home to be planted or admired in her memory.  Any which remain will enhance her garden and well-loved front porch.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Cindy’s family.

Cindy was born on March 24, 1958, in Chicago, IL, a daughter to William J. and Elaine M. (Rausch) Wieczorek. She was gifted with a strong will and an even stronger mind to compliment it as she took on the world ahead. Cindy worked in finance in Chicago before eventually making her way to New York where she committed her time and talents working in the World Trade Center. Her natural abilities and personal drive opened doors that many only dream of walking through.

She eventually worked in the tourism industry and made her way to the Galena area where she owned the Felt Manor Bed and Breakfast for some time. She spent another 23 years working as the finance director for the City of Galena until her eventual retirement finally arrived in 2023. Even in retirement, Cindy was community minded and always kept herself up to speed on all things Galena. She regularly read City agendas, and was sure to be in the loop on every issue being discussed. Cindy was a force to be reckoned with and the respect and admiration she possessed had truly been earned throughout her journey.

In her free-time, Cindy always enjoyed spending a little time out in her garden on a nice sunny day, or canning her favorites when the season was done. She was a fantastic cook and loved visiting farmers markets and trying new restaurants, . Cindy always treasured the opportunity to impact the world around her in any way she could and the legacy she leaves behind possesses clear evidence that her efforts were never fruitless. We are going to miss Cindy’s love and light walking among us and although we are heartbroken with her sudden absence from our physical lives today, we are forever grateful for the years she spent with us as well. Thank you, Cindy, for leaving the world in better shape than when you began and may the Lord bless and keep you safe in His loving arms until we all meet again.

This saddens me so much! Cindy was a smart, interesting, and fun person. Back when Natalie and my kids were young, Cindy and I would wait for the school bus together with our kids in the morning. The kids had sleepovers, and my kids would tell me about the ghosts at Felt Manor! Cindy, you will be missed!
