Duane J. Ryness

Duane J. Ryness, age 69, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey suddenly on Friday, February 23, 2024, in Dubuque, IA.  To honor Duane’s life, a private family service is being held at a later date.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Duane’s family.

Duane was born on August 14, 1954, in Denver, CO, a son to Walter E. and Dorothea A. (Bruce) Ryness.  He spent his early years developing a strong work ethic and even achieved the rank of Eagle Scout before moving into his working career.  He was also a proud member of the Boy’s State of America and treasured all of the friends and lessons he learned along the way.  Duane spent the majority of his years in the roofing and siding industry, but eventually spent his final years in apartment maintenance before finally moving into retirement in 2018.  Duane always enjoyed driving around town and reflecting on all of the projects that he had been involved with and was always eager to share his expertise and wisdom with anyone interested in following in his footsteps.  We are going to miss Duane’s strong, yet humble soul walking among us moving forward.  Thankfully, he leaves behind an abundance of wonderful memories to help ease the pain of the more difficult days ahead and for that we are forever grateful.  Thank you, Duane, for leading by example, bringing your best to the table whenever possible, and for always treating others as you wished to be treated.  May the Lord give you peace and comfort now as your earthly battles are behind you and may your legacy live on in our hearts and minds until we all meet again.

Was a good friend for many years. Roofed with him, had some beers with him, and had a lot of good times. My thoughts go out to the family.
