James E. “Jim” Lindsay, age 88, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, while in the care of loved ones in the home he loved.

his sisters-in-law,

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margaret Lindsay; and his brother-in-law, Tom Morton.

Jim’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Home Instead, especially Audrey, for their many years of faithful service, along with the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for showing us how to go on living.

I Am saddened to learned of Dr.Jim Lindsay’s death He was my History Professor while I attended University of Dubuque He was very kind and an icon. Rest In Peace Doctor Lindsay.Until We meet again May God hold you in the palm of His Hand
Jim Lindsay was a colleague at the University of Dubuque who supported faculty endeavors both financially and emotionally. He spoke out against injustices perpetrated by administration both at faculty meetings and privately. After retiring, he was a faithful attender at the monthly meetings of retired faculty. He held high standards for his students.
I taught with Jim at The University of Dubuque. I remember him as a true scholar and a man dedicated to his students and profession. I had great respect for him and his work. My condolences to Sue and the family.
I had the privilege to work with Jim, he was a man of honor. He always said what was on his mind and did not shy away from the truth. It was an honor to know him.
My prayers are with you during these difficult days ahead.
Dr. Lindsay was one of the finest men I have ever known. As a professor he taught students to learn and to think. Bar none the finest educator I have ever encountered. He mixed considerable intellect with compassion and thoughtfulness. The world is an emptier place without him. Thank you Dr. Lindsay for everything you have done for me.
I had the privilege of working with Dr. Lindsay when he volunteered in my classroom at Prescott School. He was an excellent role model for the children. He genuinely cared for the students and worked to help them achieve success. I will be forever grateful for his assistance and dedication. My sincere condolences to Sue and the family.
