James R. “Jim” Fitzgerald

James R. “Jim” Fitzgerald, age 63, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on October 29, 2022, at MercyOne in Dubuque, with his loving family by his side.  To honor Jim’s life, a private family service is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Jim’s family.

Jim was born on June 10, 1959, in Dubuque, IA, one of three sons to James C. and Carol D. (Barton) Fitzgerald.  He always enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and being surrounded by family and loved ones whenever possible.  Jim worked at A.Y. McDonald for many years, but truly would have rather been in the kitchen at home making his next homemade pizza for all to enjoy.  Add in a little time on the motorcycle, or working on projects around the home and Jim was as content as he could be in this life.  His greatest joy though really was having Martha and all their family members close by to savor each day and the blessings within it.  We will miss Jim more than words could say and treasure every memory he leaves behind now.  Thank you, Jim, for keeping life uncomplicated and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we all meet again.

Jimmy was a friend of the family❤️He spent many holiday’s and special events celebrating with us. We remember his homemade ice cream, ribs, fajita meat, and ext. when he came over he always brought his thirst. Lol. He helped us set up our daughters wedding at the park, remodel our kitchen (even though our pets gave him a severe cough) lent us tools, the list goes on and on. Jimmy liked to just drop in and stay for the afternoon 😟He knew just about everybody and what was going on in town. If you listened closely you could hear the little remarks he would say under his breath. He was a good friend to us for over 40+ years. Jimmy will be missed.🙏

Words can’t express how I feel right now. You left us way to young. Still have my memories of the times I babysat you and your brothers and how we played games and how I threatened you and your brothers to behave by saying wait till your dad gets home. The times when you all would come to our house with your mom. Good memories I still mention and say I wasn’t much older than you. Rest In Peace! Say hello to your parents and mine. 🎃🎃🎃 love ya!

Martha and family I’m so sorry to hear Jim passed away. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you have many warm memories of Jim to hold in your hearts. I remember you well from my Kindergarten teaching days at Prescott when I had Jose and Suzanna in my class when you first moved to Dubuque. I wish you all peace and hope you are doing well. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Fitzgerald and Garcia families during this difficult time. Jimmy Fitz was one-of-a-kind that will be sadly missed by anyone he came in contact with. He truly was a good person.
Johnny (Peanut) I know you will stay strong and proudly carry on the Fitzgerald name honoring your family, as they are all watching over you from a better place. Take care my friend.
