John C. Reinheimer

John C. Reinheimer, age 73, of Galena, IL, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, completed his earthly journey suddenly on November 27, 2021, at home.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving John’s family.

John was born on January 7, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the only child to Charles and Charlotte (Berry) Reinheimer.  He grew up knowing that he wanted to spend his career helping others and went on to earn a Masters degree before investing over 37 years with the State of Iowa as a rehabilitation counselor.  He enjoyed his working years, but also found great peace in the 12 years he spent as a courtesy driver with McGrath Kia after his retirement.  John was always a very social person who simply enjoyed being around others and striking up a stimulating conversation whenever possible.  John also spent many hours practicing his skills on his piano and savored any opportunity that he could simply sit and visit with his loved ones and dear friends.  We are going to miss John more than he could ever know and the void he has left behind will never truly be filled again.  We are grateful for the memories and pray that he is finally free from his earthly health issues until we meet again.  Thank you, John, for teaching us that life can be any kind of adventure that we would choose it to be and that it’s never too late to make new friends throughout each and every day.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of John include his spouse of 27 years, Kent Klingman, Galena, IL, along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors.  John was preceded in death by his parents.  Kent would like to thank John’s friends, especially Bill and Kathy Marzano, for all of the love and support during this difficult time.

Kent, my sincere condolences to you and John’s family and friends. I will remember John as a good friend in our Cedar Rapids Voc. Rehab. Office for the many years that we worked together. He has left us too soon. 😢

Bill and I are heartbroken at John’s sudden passing. As the direction of our lives brought us closer together, we all were looking so forward to the time we would be able to spend together. We will forever cherish our calls, dinners and gatherings, together with all the memories of John’s perfect martini, his love of a beautiful automobile and music, but mostly of how much joy he had for living.

Our sincere condolences to Kent and to all who were blessed to have had John touch their lives. Please know Kent, we are here for you. Bill and I look forward to spending time with you, reminiscing and creating new memories. As John would say, “Oh how fun!”

    Forever with us.

Kent, having known John since 1975 when we were both still in our 20’s, we shared so many life experiences. We began as coworkers through the State of Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services agency, but quickly developed a friendship that lasted far beyond our work lives, through the twists and turns of our future years. As I shared with you on the phone, I had just been contemplating giving John my usual call on his approaching 74th birthday on January 7th and looking forward to a Galena visit as soon as Covid concerns eased enough to make that a reality. I am so sorry that I didn’t call when I was having those thoughts.

Kent, I am so sorry for your loss as well as the loss to his remaining family and numerous friends. John took so much joy in the life he shared with you, his family, his friends, and the parade of feline and canine family members you shared. He knew how to live life to the fullest. Please know I am here, though at a distance, to support you in any way you might find helpful. I intend to write you a more personal letter to share more in the near future, to hopefully help us both with the grieving process of John’s unexpected loss.

My prayers and condolences to you, Kent, and to all of John’s extended family and friends. I went to high school with John, and also played in a dance band with him. He was. A delightful person with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed.

  8. I am still at a loss of words. “Bud” and Charlotte were 2nd parents to me, with our families as neighbors for as far back as I can remember. Kent, your pain is our pain. We are all sad and heartbroken. If you need anything, let me know. Love to you and I am so thankful for memories.

John was such a happy soul. His zest for life and others was awesome. Even after many years of not seeing each other, it was just like yesterday. He was the reason you could feel like it was just yesterday. Kent you are in our prayers.

Kent I am so sorry for your loss of John. He was such a kind man. I remember the last thing he said to this past fall when he said he liked my hair color. I told him it was my fall foliage color and he said he would look out to see if he saw any foliage that had the colors of my hair. Now I will never know if he did. (Mary Kay from MCJA office)
