Marilyn Lillian Langas

Marilyn Lillian Langas, age 85, of Hawkeye Care Center in Dubuque, IA, was blessed to be called to her Heavenly Father on October 17, 2023, and to be reunited with her husband, George, and their daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie”, whom recently passed away.

 

In honor of Marilyn’s life, a memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Church of the Nativity, 1225 Alta Vista Street in Dubuque, with Rev. Andy Upah officiating.  Family and friends are invited to visit and fellowship from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

 

Marilyn was born on April 25, 1938, in Dubuque, a daughter to Alfred and Modesta Bainbridge.

 

She married George T. Langas on November 24, 1956, at Holy Trinity Church in Dubuque, and were blessed with 55 wonderful years together.

 

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially taking weekend trips to Freddy’s Beach.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed curling up with a good book.  Her grandchildren enjoyed her homemade bread and her quick wit.  Marilyn had a “Tell it like it is” attribute and all who knew and loved her appreciated that.  She will be remembered by her children as being the Best Mom by supporting them throughout their lives.

 

Marilyn worked at several businesses through her working years, and retired from Area Residential Care in Dubuque.

 

She is survived by her children,

Judy (Tom) Guler,

Gus (Karen) Langas, all of Dubuque, IA,

and Larry (Lori Close) Langas, East Dubuque, IL;

 

her son-in-law,

James “Jimmy” Bardon, Durango, IA;

 

her grandchildren,

Tommy Langas, Jennifer Langas, Julie (Chris) Rolling, Austin Guler, Vickie (Scott) Pauley, Josh (Lisa) Langas, and Justin (Karla) Rolwes;

 

several great-grandchildren;

 

her siblings,

Robert “Bob” (Sharon) Bainbridge, Independence, IA,

Gary (Peggy) Bainbridge, Hastings, MN,

and Sandy Bush, Dubuque, IA;

 

her brothers and sisters-in-law,

John Rettenmaier, Dubuque, IA,

David Bailey, Dixon, IL,

Mary Ann Bainbridge, Lancaster, WI,

Ruth Langas, Houston, TX,

and Priscilla Langanis, Kewanee, IL;

 

along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors.

 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Langas; her beloved daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Bardon; her parents; her siblings, Lyle, Wayne, and David Bainbridge, Marcia Rettenmaier, and Darlene Bailey; and her brothers-in-law, Emmanuel “Duke” Langanis, Robert “Bob” (Sophie) Wilcox, Steve Langas, and Philip (Betty) Langas.

 

Marilyn’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hawkeye Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their professional and loving care.

 

In lieu of flowers, a Marilyn L. Langas memorial fund has been established.

    Judy and family, so sorry for the loss of your mom and Jackie. Judy I worked with your mom and Jackie at ARC. They were both a joy to work with.I’m so glad Jackie had a happy life, although it was too short.

Gus and Karen sorry for your lose both family members did not really know your mom that well but the few times we run in your house going up to your room and all she would do was shack her head like we were up to no good sorry part she was right very nice lady hope to catch up with you one of these days Simps
