Marjorie C. “Marge” Lewis

Marjorie C. “Marge” Lewis, age 73, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on Nov. 8, 2022, after 8 years at Luther Manor while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Marge’s life, her memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3650 Asbury Rd, and a zoom meeting will also be available for those who are unable to attend.  Please feel free to call (563) 599-6610 for the zoom details.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Marge’s family.

 

Marge was born on February 16, 1949, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Joseph and Jeanie (Zollar) Backes.  She eventually met her soul-mate, Roger Lewis, and they were united in marriage on May 16, 1970, in Dubuque, IA, and blessed with many wonderful years and 4 boys of their own along the way.

 

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Marge include,

 

her loving husband of 52 years,

Roger L. Lewis, Dubuque, IA;

                                                                                                                                   

her four sons,

Matthew Lewis, Dubuque, IA,

Jeffrey (Gwen) Lewis, Dubuque, IA,

Stephen (Karna) Lewis, Shell Rock, IA,

and Robert (Brittany) Lewis, Sioux City, IA;

 

her seven adored grandchildren,

Jenna, Hailey, Amira, Zander, Natalia, Katerina, and Libby;

 

her brothers,

Mark (Mary) Backes, Edgerton, WI,

and John Backes;

 

her brother-in-law,

Robert Simon, Dubuque, IA;

 

her sister-in-law,

Marsha Backes, Dubuque, IA;

 

along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors.

 

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Kathy Simon, Angie Backes, Tom Backes, and David Backes.

 

In lieu of flowers, a Marjorie C. Lewis memorial fund has been established which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

 

Marge’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their professional and compassionate care of Marge, and her family.
