Sandra L. Henry

Sandra L. Henry, age 85, of Dubuque, IA, completed her earthly journey on December 25, 2023, while at home surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Sandra’s life, a memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 2921 Central Avenue in Dubuque, with Father Steve Garner officiating.  Family and friends of Sandra’s are invited to join in fellowship for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in Texas at a later date.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Sandra’s family.

Sandra was born on October 6, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter to Gregory C. and Lucille (Fath) Meyer.  She was born with a love and adoration for family and friends which Sandra carried faithfully throughout her 85 years among us.  Sandra eventually met the love of her life, John Henry, and the two were united in marriage in 1960, and blessed with many wonderful years together, and a family of their own to raise and nurture.  Sadly, John was called home ahead of her in 2001.  Sandra decided to move back to Dubuque following his passing to be closer to her siblings.  She devoted her working years as an X-Ray Technician at the Northwest Hospital in Houston, Texas, always fulfilling her internal drive to care for others while making the world around her a better place.

In her free-time, Sandra always enjoyed sitting down at her sewing machine to work on her newest project.  She was also an avid fan of a little retail therapy whenever the opportunity arose, and if she was presented with a relaxing lunch date, or an evening to sit around the card table with family and friends, you could be sure that she would consider that to be time well spent.  But, for those who truly knew and loved Sandra, it was no secret that her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.  She possessed an unlimited loving heart of a grandmother and was always fulfilled and internally satisfied when she could share it with those around her.  There is no denying that our hearts break at the mere thought of moving forward without Sandra’s bright and shining light in our daily lives, but we thankfully can find peace in knowing that she is now free from her earthly battles and is enjoying the eternal reunion with her loved one’s who have been called home ahead of her.  Thank you, Sandra, for living your best life without regret and for sharing so much love along the way that what remains now is an abundance of precious memories for all to treasure while we wait to see your beautiful smile once again.  May the Lord bless you and keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.
