Scott “Scottie Q” Reimer, age 45, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on July 11, 2022, at his brother’s home in Hazel Green, WI.  To honor Scottie’s life, his Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., at the Oxus Grotto in Dubuque. The address to the services is 3011 Autumn Dr. Asbury, IA 52002. After the services there is a Memorial Event at The Smokestack from 7pm-12am. The address to The Smokestack is 62 E 7^th St. Dubuque, IA 52001. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Scottie’s family.

Scott was born on March 22, 1977, in Dubuque, IA, a son to Gary L. and Donna M. (Fransen) Reimer.  He knew from a young age that he wanted to help as many people as possible in his community in any way that he could.  Scott’s talents surely leaned in the community activist’s realm of life and his devotion to the gay community and the Democratic party has been the primary focus of his energies throughout the years.  He has worked with Resources United, Hillcrest, The VNA and even worked with the local Dubuque effort to campaign for Hillary Clinton in 2015. His organizational skills have led many events to a successful end and his absence will surely be felt by many, but his passions didn’t end there.  In his free-time, Scott was a Marvel enthusiast, along with anything Batman, Star Wars, or Star Trek.  No picking sides here, he was a fan of all options in the genre.  Scott was a kind soul who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends whenever he could.  He always wanted to help others and that drive seemed to never sleep.  We will miss Scottie more than he could ever know, but are grateful for the time that we had with him all the same.  Thank you, Scott, for helping so many people around our community and may you now find peace from the earthly battles you’ve been facing, until we meet again.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother Donna Mae, his father, his grandparents, William (Mary) Fransen; and his uncles, Bill Fransen and Randy Millman.

In lieu of flowers, a Scott J. Reimer memorial fund has been established.

Scott’s family would like to thank Dr. Ahmed El-Hattab, the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Chris and Steph, and the nurses and staff on the 4^th floor at Finley, especially, Mindy, Caroline, Sarah, Jodie, Ashley, Jacob, Anna, Christine, Marna, Sam, Miranda, Mary Ann, Diane, Alli, Megan, Julie, and JB. A very special thank you to Jolene for helping with a very difficult, personal decision. All of you have played a very valuable role in Scott’s last days and we cannot thank you enough for all of your love and support during these difficult days.
